The homestead, Nindera, was architect designed and built of sandstock brick and cedar by a well respected local builder. It was purpose designed to cover a multitude of roles - first as office for city based professional, secondly to council specifications as a restaurant and thirdly and most importantly as a spacious home for a family with two children and lots of visitors. As Nindera sits on a ridge overlooking town and the Great Divide it was essential to factor into the design protection from the prevailing winds whilst allowing for maximum advantage of the splendid views to the north and west. The result is a homestead in the shape of a capital 'E' allowing expansive entertaining and deck areas to the north and west, the two wings protecting a central courtyard into which protrudes a wonderful all season glass walled and roofed solarium. The north-eastern wing is the family wing containing 3 bedrooms, bathroom, separate toilet & basin, pantry, cellar, kitchen, family room, sunroom and laundry. The central stem contains large living and dining areas opening via french doors to a screened deck to the north and south into the courtyard via the solarium. The south-west wing contains master bedroom, full bathroom, office and a separate toilet and basin facility. The large kitchen has a gas cooktop, triple electric oven, dishwasher and extensive storage. The benchtops are of lustrousTasmanian Blackwood. A large pantry with cellar below access off the kitchen. A sunroom on the northeast corner of the deck is a favourite year-round sitting room. The house design allows for all weather protected indoor/outdoor living and dining all year round. The mild climate only enhances this feature. Gardens around the house have been extensively planted with deciduous parkland trees, fruit and nut trees to reflect the seasons and wonderful natives to entice the birds. The swimming pool and spa are heated via solar and/or gas. A bushrock apron surrounding the pool was hauled in from the surrounding paddocks and give a wonderful feel of a natural swimming hole. A pavilion featuring food preparation and bathroom facilities ties the pool and tennis court area together. The tennis court is all-weather astro-turf with night lighting. Nindera's fields were originally cropped with winter vegetables but are used now for agistment of horses and cattle. The 27 acre property currently has Council approval for a further subdivision to five lots--the house lot being 7 acres and the additional four blocks averaging approximately 5 acres--offering present or future flexibility to the new owner..
